Similar Threads- to speed up site

    Everyone knows this site bogs a lot through out the day. The similar threads part of this site im sure slams the DB and slows the MYSQL server down .
    Every time a thread is loaded by any user the script query's the what im sure to be MASSIVE database searching for related titles. With the massive amount of traffic this site gets im sure this query is sent thousands of times every 60 seconds and could act like a DOS attack (slow page loading).
    Im not the webmaster and have never monitored this site from the backend and may possible be wrong, but my thread here is definitely plausible .
