Similar pages on site will this hurt SEO?

I currently have more than one page about a topic on one of my sites for a group of dermatologists. For example, for coolsculpting there is a page with before and after photos, as well as a page with more detail on the procedure itself. They have different content, many different tags and meta titles. I am currently ranking fine on Google for my key phrase but will this hurt me? Can I have a "section" of pages on a similar topic as long as they contain different content and are obviously for different purposes (gallery of photos vs procedure informaiton, etc)

    Thanks!

Until and unless you have unique content in each of the page, you will not be penalized by Google, incase if you have same content for the two different URLs then immediately replace any one of the URL content with unique content ASAP.

    waxgirl333,

As long as the content is substantially different then you should be fine. In your example, you state that the pages show before and after photos, as well as a page that is more descriptive. The first question I have is, is there a reason you chose to have the description of the procedure on a separate page from the photos? Since the pages are unique from each other, it should not be an issue. Google's concern is with duplicate content. There are two requirements for a page to be considered duplicate content. These are that the page is less than 30 percent unique from the original page and that it does not link to the original page.

Here is a nice explanation of duplicate content:

    Hope this answers your question,
