I would be interested in getting some responses. Some site I ran in to had me download that plug in. Looks like it is some interactive website something. :)

Silverlight is like flash (not exactly the same). You can add interactivity in your webpages with silverlight which is basically a set of javascript. Just like flash pages silverlight needs the silverlight plugin to display its contents.

Silverlight is not new and is more like Adobe Flex's competitor rather than Flash. Anyway I haven't tested it but it does look very "loaded" and heavy

"Silver light" is micro soft version of flash on .net platform. Using silverlight software you can pretty much do everything that you can do using macromedia flash and more, eg: animation, video streaming, making movies, making games, interactive media etc.

I played around it for sometime .. trust me there are some impressive things about it .. but its still buggy and developing anything isn't as easy as its in Flash. If you integrate it with Expression studio then it becomes a little user friendly ... u can also integrate it with visual studio ... but not in Express Edition :-( It still has a long way to go before it can become popular or any threat to Flash or Flex ..

I've had Silverlight for over a year.
It is basically a competition for Adobe Flash.
I'm interested in using Silverlight for my site, so I am learning.
Silverlight doesn't requireyou to buy anything, so I am all for it.
One more of Microsoft's amazing products.

    People!

The idea behind Silverlight is that you don't need to learn another language, like ActionScript (for Flash).
If you are an ASP.NET developer, you can use C# to develop in Silverlight. So you need just one language for: desktop apps, web apps, "flashy" apps.

Of course it has some problems, is just at its 2nd version. Flash is 9. But Silverlight catched up very well.
So expect that in next versions to be better than Flash.
