Silent Hill or Resident Evil, which one is better?

Ok I'm a fan of both series but I can't decide which one is better?
I played Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2, and I was amazed by the storyline and music.
As for Resident Evil series, I played Resident Evil (only for few hours), Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4.
As for RE and RE 2 it was so scary and really survival based and I'm really a great fan on zombies (living dead) so that's the plus.
I was kinda disappointed by part 4, sure, camera was revolution and also the gameplay, but it was too action based (plus you can't compare Los Ganados, Los Gigantos and huge statues with RE zombies).
So yea, I can't really decide which one is better, and if you're RE or SH nerd like me I would like to hear your opinion about it.

 

I like resident evil, more over up to now I never played silent hill

 

Resident evil has been a good game always compared to other horror+action games.The gameplay and controls are just great, that also gives you an option for customizing weapons.

I think resident evil series are best.

 

silent hill in my opinion, there is always more of an atmosphere and all-round horror to it. The storys are usually better as well I think.

 

for me resident evil is better than silent hill, since resident evil has better visual effects

 

oh god! i think RE is very tense for me! hehe.
i vote RE. because i've played RE from 1 until 4, best!

 

I've always loved both but i think Silent Hill has gone downhill since 3, on the other hand Resident Evil has gotten better since 3. Also, the franchise has expanded with two new games on the Wii, while silent hill only got a re-imagining of the first game without any combat whatsoever =/

Resident evil has evolved a lot more than silent hill so I would have to go with resident evil

 

Both are nice, they got their own uniqueness.. but i personally like resident evil more.

 

i like resident evil 5, but it cant be categorized in horor games...its an action adventure games LOL

 

I agree with you Dheez, RE series has become action game since part 4. Anyway, people wanted some changes in it I guess, Capcom have published so many great horror games over the years but they looked all the same so I'm guessing that's the reason why they switched to action game.

 

Vote for Resident Evil 5. has great gameplay.

They have some nice merits so far.

Though the move from survival horror towards action horror with very unconventional concepts thrown is something you'll end up loving or hating.
