Well, I hardly ever see any posts about Sikhism in here so I thought I would start one. I'm a practising Sikh so if anyone has any questions they would like to ask, ask away
Here is a pic to get you all started... It's a photo of an elderly Sikh gentleman stood before Sri Harmandir Sahib aka the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab, India.
in india there are many religions, hinduism, jainism, sikhism, etc. they all believe in some sort of nirvana angle. sikhs are considered the protectors. they carry swords in their formal garments.
We beleive we have 5 enemies/evils and they are: Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment and Ego. These things prevent us progressing on the path of spirituality and so we should work to try and bring these under control and control them rather than letting them control us. Conquer these/your mind and everything is yours. By everything is yours I mean, you will have attained such a high spiritual state that you should feel no distinction between you and others, you will also see God in everyone & everything.
That's Sikh...? I've always tried to avoid getting Sikh and here I am finding out I've been Sikh nearly all my life. Just don't pull the old 'you need to be Sikh to be healthy' trick or we might confuse the Irish.
