I see. I was indeed miles away. But this concept of bowing to the book of God is new to me since I am Muslim and I only bow to God to show Him respect, not to His book, not that we do not respect His word but we only bow to the Almighty. Maybe explain more about why you bow to the book?

Also, I know what langar means :p hehe, it's a punjabi word, we have in our Mosques too.

We bow not to the paper/bindings but to the Word/ the Shabad.

The Shabad is directly from God and hence I will bow my head in Appreciation of the True Lord. These Shabad's/ the Guru tell us of the way we can merge back with the Almighty Creator; to liberation and I bow before such words of God.

We believe God is everywhere but He is also inside us, but it is how to find Him and connect with Him that people like me are unable to currently comprehend. The Guru's teaching guide us the way to find God.

You mention you bow only to God... where is God - where is it you bow?

We bow to Allah (God) - "Verily Allah is absolutely free of need of anything in the worlds" He does not need any place to be because things need place and time.. whereas Allah is free from these limitations. He cannot be in us because we are only human, His creation, we need food and to relieve ourselves, God does not need all this or Maybe you were speaking of the mind and heart when you say to connect with Him?

Allah has said in the Holy Quran that He is infront of us when we pray, closer to us than our jugular vein when we remember Him, closest to us when we're prostrating, with us wherever we are.... these are all in the Quran. So, we have not fixed any place for Allah nor do we say He is everywhere (in a physical sense)..

as for bowing, I think you mean why do we face Makkah while praying? It's because 1, it was the first sacred house, built first by Prophet Adam (peace be upon him).. and 2 Islam doesn't look at race, color, creed, culture, so to unite the whole mankind, God has ordered us to face makkah. This does not mean we worship the structure, it's just used to unite everyone to the roots of Islam.
