Signup to a New Host ... Will I Receive Credit?

I am looking to sell out my hosting I have right now and get a new hosting account with a different hosting company. Now, the new company I want to go to is part of my list of affiliate programs.

Can I sign up to them through my link and still receive credit? Thanks.

Technically yes, you could, however that's a little unethical and probably against their TOS. I would check with them first, if they are happy for you to do it, then there's no reason not to.

What is unethical about it, its not like I'm signing up just to collect the commission bounty. I'm signing up because I need a hosting company besides the one I'm with now. Nothing is wrong with them but I'm bored after being with them for 6 months.

Most affiliate programs don't allow it. However some hosts will send you a rebate when you transfer sites to them. For example you could use a HostICan coupon to save $50 and then they also rebate you $40 for transferring to them. So you get an almost free account. See their site for details.

You need to read the TOS for whatever host you want to sign up for. Some sites allow you to purchase from them through your own link and receive commission but many do not. I have also found that this tends to change from time to time so read the most current TOS for that company.
