I was reading this interesting thread Have you ever been ripped off online? and it made me wonder, what are the signs that you may get ripped off by someone? If any of you have some experience on the matter, it would be nice to compile a list of things to watch out for when doing business transactions on the web.

    Any ideas?

    My advice:
    - Never deal with someone who has been here less than 6-months. They haven't been here long enough to show their true colours.
    - Be sure to check the person out (using the search facility and Google) before dealing with them.
    - Negative iTraders require further investigation: The way the iTrader system is abused around here a negative doesn't necessarily mean they've done anything wrong. Dig around and find out more. That said it's probably best to avoid someone with multiple bad iTraders. If they have previously dealt with a well-established and respected member ask that person for their opinions.
    - Reputation doesn't mean much, although someone with overall red reputation has obviously annoyed several other people.
    - Any deal that looks too good to be true (e.g. make $1,000 a day for 50c investment) definitely is.

avoid currency exchanges via PM with newbies at all cost. 99.99% of this is pure scam.
