I think that its more preferable to contain keywords relating to the site, but it's not important if you can turn your domain into a recognised brand.
i agree that the site content is more relevant than the url, but very targeted keywords in a url can't hurt.
I think a keyword in a url is very important, better than trying to be all brand like and never being known, think how a searcher will find you, unless your a household name or behind myspace or something then seachers wont be looking for the fancy sounding name. Go keyword.
