Signatures And Links ?

you links are being counted.....google only shows a random small number of links in your link command....if you use the google webmaster's tools....it will show more....use yahoo to see a more accurate number of your links

Forum links are worth very little....look at the number and type of outbounds link just in this thread....

 

I said more were mentioned in webmaster tools over the LINK command...

My main point in mentioning it at all was to point out that even with the LINK command, more then one thread shows up as a backlink (even with google).

Here they are flooded, some other forums are better (or worse) to varying degrees.

20 posts per page here, right? on a full page, that's up 80 out bound links... the numbers do get better with smaller threads, but you are, for the better part, correct. I've been to forums where the sig links look more like link farms, so I'm rather grateful for the limits here at DP.

Sig links are nothing but spam.

 

With the loosest definition of spam, you are correct, but then, by using that logic, most links are spam, and all ads are.

Signatures have their uses, and I personally do not think that four links in three lines offsets a threaded conversation enough to warrant such a definition as disruptive, as they are certainly less intrusive as other forms of advertising.

(also, if you didn't know, you can turn sigs off on forums via EDIT OPTIONS)

Why does Google play with backlinks, is there some reason behind it or just someones sick sense of humor at Google?

 

Is that a statement or a question? I know you ended it with a bunch of question marks, but, erm... If it's statment then, I'd love to read your ebook, especially if it had a glossary section. If it's a question, then the answer is NO.

 

Since his link has to do with a seo contest, I think he is one of the few that a link from here WOULD help

Well, I think the links might get you a few extra visitors, so what's the harm?

 

Sigs help me in ranking... Hehehehe. It's true Google doesn't display links only some of the links...Unllike to yahoo displays almost all the links....
