Signature problems

I keep getting the following error when trying to update my exisiting signature.

"Your signature can not be longer than 350 characters including BBCode markup."

FYI, the current signature below contains 140 characters. The updated one had only 125 characters..

What am I missing?

that is your sig code, that is more than 140 characters, all code counts too

 

It would be.... but signatures are in BBCode, not HTML!

 

The same thing. I just tried to change McCoy Pottery (and its link) to Vonage Phone.

Then I tried shortening it, by dropping about 15 characters overall.

 

That's weird. I never got this error... But it your signature seems ok now.

It is ok because it will not let me change it. That is the problem. I could delete one character or add one character to the current signature, and it WILL NOT let me save it.

 

The exact same one that is listed below... But change McCoy Pottery for "Vonage Phone". That's it.

 

Damn that BB code kills you..

Ok, so I am assuming you lowered the limit some time ago? I've not changed my signature in a couple years.

Code (markup):

stripping the code from your name and replacing it with bold tags
and removing the 2 bolded parts i have shown, (as they are doing nothing because you stated font=Arial Black and the next comment is "color=DarkRed")

that will give you enough to put in the url to the Vonage Phone
i had to remove a the "[" tags to show you, you'll need to put them back in, i dont know how shawn did it

Yup they actually did lower the limit , as i recall i had a much better signature as i could use bb code properly, but now the limits take in bb codes, so wonder if dp will ever increase the limit once again and put it back to the one with which i signed up here on dp.

 

What a fantastic tip. I'd never think of this simple thing in case I was having similar problem. Reps to come for this.
