I have noticed that when researching my site's ranking for my keywords, I often see my forum entries appearing in the SERPS. These are obviously just my signature links from long ago postings. But why does it pick up and index some signature links and not all? Is it to do with the topic being discussed in that particular thread, or is it about the strength of the site links from others who post on the same thread? Or is it something else? In other words, how can we make our signature links work better? JB
Hello JB, I do believe that some forums block the sig links from the search engines. I'm not sure if that is the primary cause or not. Some people believe that forum links are no good for SEO, but I've seen way too many positive results from them to believe that. I'm very interested to hear what other people feel may improve the quality of forum signature links, though. ~Adam
Thanks Adam, I am sure they make a difference. You find forum signature links all over Google, but it is interesting to try and pinpoint exactly why some of them are active and some of them seem to be ignored. I assume it's the relevancy of the text in that post, but that is only a guess. JB
Sig Links are some of the most powerful you can get, I offer a service on other forums where I place your link. Will up your link count in 1 week!
Forum sigs can really bring in great traffic and improve your ranking a little. Some forums block sigs. And I also think it's all about posting good and relevant content, too.
QwkSnad, Awesome user name btw..... You are correct, Sig links generate good links along with great relevant traffic!
Yes forum signatures help you to get index quickly in search engines as search engines will again and again index the top forums like these and freewebspace.net,v7n.com/forums so if you have changed the content and when Google indexes your forum signature it will also re index your content and also it also gives you about good amount of traffic about 26% of visitors are from here I hvae an average of 100 visitors to my PR5 directory
Google does not show you all the backlinks ( if you used link: ). In any case, varying your signature anchor text might yield better results
Forum posts help a lot Especially if you are porting to a relevant question nd giving a deeper link to your website. Think about that: Can there be any better backlink for a site?
Of course there are better links...like a google.com homepage link... Oh wait, were we talking about links that could actually be gotten?
Ha ha, good one ADAM! Yeah that would be a dream link really. Google should run a contest of some sort for that. It could really boost there use!
They will never do that I'm afraid... But look at it like this: when you are number one for you primary keyword on google you actually have a Google homepage link p.l.u.r.
Thats also a good point Angelus, I never thought of it that way, but the value would be much greater on the actual home page of Google.
Some forums are completely ignored by SE's and some are pretty well spiderd, and if you closely observe you will know that its all to do with good quality content along with the relevancy, Forum signatures work fine for SEO Thanks Sharon 1st month free on all hosting plans - http://www.goviphosting.com
