Signature Links - Worth It ??

I don't know about you, but I love trawling the Buy Sell and Trade section of Digital Point. It is not only great inspiration if you are struggling for ideas - I have had some of my best ideas whilst there.

It is also a great place to find cheap advertising for my websites.

The question I have is . . . Does google place much weight on Signature Links??

Whilst trawling the BST section earlier I must have counted at least 5 people selling Signiture links on Digital Point. Now, I want to know whether anyone has had experience with this and what they see as the main function of the signiture links. Do they count as inbound links when Google spiders your site or is it mainly for the traffic?

 

Its for both traffic and back links. On some sites its a valuable link.
On other sites its worthless as a link but can bring in huge traffic.

 

Any body know the weight that signiture links have in google? are they more or less than directories?

 

More than SE benefit, you ought to be looking at signature links as possible advertisements for your business/sites. Forum signature can bring in plenty of relevant traffic if you use them effectively, I in fact wrote a small guide on this a while back, Forums, a good source of targeted and relevant traffic

Will it do your Page Rank any good?

Say if I purchase a signiture spot with over 1000 posts on a forum with high PR will this do my PR any good?

 

Not much, but then again who cares about page rank any way as long as you get quality targeted traffic!

 

What about plain old SEO is it any good for that?

In active forums like DP your link gets crawled quite fast, I have had new sites getting indexed in a day or two just by adding a signature link here!

 

Signature links won't hurt your rankings anyway.
I think they give you some weight, when placed in good, popular forums.

 

Signature is good as building backlink, bring some traffic and earned some money too (At DP)

it can definetely bring traffic. however you should stress the fact that posting on a forum makes you learn loads of stuff AND brings you traffic.

I was considering purchasing some sig links as a way of increasing backlinks, not traffic, just backlinks. What do people think about this type of backlink building?

 

I guess you are trying to raise the backlinks to get better toolbar pr in order to sell links or the domain. In that case don't both with it too much as it won't have that much of an effect.

 

Well, yes PR is nice but I also want to increase the Organic Search Results to my site.
