Just make sure the person whose sig link you buy doesn't post in 'the underground' too much as that forum isn't spidered.

Signatures/avatars are a poor and weak Marketing/traffic/Seo Technique, a waste of money if you ask me, yet popular because young and new directories owners are followers (due to the fact that most tech guys/ geeks/ webmasters doesnt really have a marketing education) and follow the "movement" blindly.

not even 0.001% of the people that need to see your directory (and hopefully submit) are on this forum, your potential clients are not on digitalpoint, they are outside this small island of the ocean.

even if i wanted to create a BUZZ and Have a maximum Brand visibility for my Directory on digitalpoint to reach those 0.001% of "potential customers", i would use Adwords instead of signature links.

spending $300/month on adwords instead of buying 10 signature links will make make my directory Visible / Professional / Attractive to the 90 000 Members of digitalpoint instead of a few hundred persons.

    Cheers.
    Mario

I disagree with funkymario, it is more about ROI then anything else. As I stated in my first post in this thread.

From my experience you could easily spend $300 on adwords and not even get half that back in submissions.

Everyone has the right to a view, however i feel on this one you may be correct if you looked at the topic just from one angle.

I see people's sigs / avatars ( not only in this forum but all of the many forums ) as a potential gold mine, they really are an untapped resource and one i plan to put some ideas to work that will give me links back to my diectory from many people in many forums at no cost to me.

I think funkymario makes an interesting point. Would the ROI from spending that money on adwords not bring greater returns?

I don't know but am interested in some of the veteran's thoughts on this.

Do you think google would ever penalize against signature links? As spammy links. Alive amongst others have millions of them. Just a thought.

sig links are there to draw attention to a users website. therefor google would ignore them as they are not natural - rather user placed.

I just registered here yesterday and noticed that too.. along with a few other sites.
The site seems to get a good amount of traffic and has good PR as well so id have to assume buying a large amount of sigs will eventually pay for itself.

Hey mario, since your sig. spot is empty and not for sale, want me to pm my site links maybe you can just put them there, as according to you they are poor and weak ? Come on now dont let ur signature space go waste :p

Anyways guys i dunno why people are talking about traffic from signature, i think that its a myth, maybe 1 out of 100 will click your signature, even if posted say this "Check my Signature out " most will still not bother checking signatures out.It takes time to click and check the site out :D.

I think main purpose they serve are PR juice, once there is nofollow tag in signature will see all signature link sales disappear i am sure about. Not many want to admit to this fact but we all want PR juice :p

Anyways mike does my signature send you any traffic ? Well your reply would be i dunno, cause there is no way to track traffic from signatures either. So, its also important to check whose signature is more powerful before buying them. And posts count has nothing to do with it, someone can be controversial and hated by dp by most (aka *cough cough hint : name starts with P ends with G) and not enough posts at times can attract attention too.

Its all about those who know how to market their signatures also. Its an art and AC hates those who sell signatures lol

    Regarding PR and signature links

Ask yourself what PR this page has?

It took me a very long time to find a forum with internal pages of PR4, now posting your link on these pages has obvious benefits.

Mate, i have no idea. All i know is yesterday i got 70 visits to my bid directory from DP. That 70 is more than a lot of bid directories get in 2 days from all traffic sources. That is why people like me always buy sig links. Perhaps i will stop and watch the effects.

Exactly. if an inner forum is PR6, and thread made that stays there for a few days will be PR5 = PR5 juice to sig links. simple really.

    Maybe this line

Bonus - We will email you the address of a business forum with PR4 inner pages, these are very rare indeed and fantastic for building a sites PR

    Code (markup):
Now it shows that someone runs a site only for PR :p , a really bad move, google if notices it your site could be in lots of trouble.
