Signature Link vs Comment Link

I notice most people use their signature link to obtain backlinks on blog comments........... does anyone know if actually posting a comment with the anchor text & link in the comment is worth more --- or are they equal?

Assuming there are less outgoing links on the blog page, blog comment will be better than signature link. However, if you're looking for advertisment on a popular community like DP then signature link will be better.

Neither one is worth much from an SEO standpoint, but if they're being left on related forums and blogs, not to mention written properly and descriptively, they CAN bring in additional traffic which could result in someone giving you a quality incoming link.

Agreed. I put this to good use and rank top 3 for some very competitive phrases simply from comment and signature links on niche-related forums.

Agreed. I have an NFL team fansite and always put a link in my sig when posting on related forums. It does bring in a fair amount of traffic.
As far as for SEO purposes, it's pretty null. As far as I can tell, most blogs add the rel=nofollow tag to any links in comments anyway.

I say do both whenever you can and take advantage of both. The more you put out there the better, but make certain to pay attention to the posting rules. I have found many places that frown on signature links so just getting to have one is a big deal. It really is a numbers game and I think that the more you have on quality sites that it certainly cannot hurt.

Links embedded within the content is most preferred by Google and other search engines. So try to have those links for getting good PR.

Is it depend on the PR on the blog and forum. If they do have the same PR, i will say the blog comment (only on dofollow blog) do provide more PR juice but the forum signature will prvide you more traffic
