In the end demand and supply sets the price. If the signature traffic (and probably to a lesser extent the SEO value) wasn't converting well for signature buyers, demand would decrease and prices would be lower.

Imo, the value of a signature link is in the highly targetted traffic exposure. Has everybody heard of Site-Sift, Sevenseek, Alive Directory etc.

And who's the audience, bored webmasters with recently deposited Google checks in the bank acount, looking for ways to promote their sites. Surely that traffic's better than an adwords campaign.

basically once the companies find higher conversion rates here, they would jump in to advertise in this community.. just matter of time.
just hope it happens soon and more bigger companies get in here ;)

I wonder how long it will be before the practice of selling sigs and avatars will be banned.

    why would they be banned?

No reason in particular. But life has taught me that people sometimes take advantage in certain circumstances. And other people do change their minds for various reasons. All I meant was that nothing is ever carved in stone.

I've sold 3 spots in my sig to Chris and I am satisfied with a deal despite the fact I could have wanted much more. Also, the same thing is with Avatar... And I am open to anyone wanting my location or soul or anything else :)

Yeah Jim. I for one do not want to sell-out my avatar. The avatar is a representation of who is talking.

With half of the people here having paid-for avatars, and the other half having chick avatars to increase traffic; where does that leave the rest of us?

    Just my .02 cents

I for one am glad this forum allows you to commericalize your sig/avator. Many forums dont even allow sigs and avators in the first place, others allow sigs but no links in sigs! Once my websites are up, ill be linking to them in my sig(but feel free to buy my links out ;) ) and my website will sell ad space to all who wants more traffic---for a price :D
