    I think that many backlinks from one site are not helping for the PR.

    Anyway, high PR is not helping you if you dont get visitors from the SERPs.

    Yes definitely more your site gets back links, more it will help for the higher PR but i think one shuld go for quality, and quality is made by getting back links from the most relevant sites, or home page only links with low number of outbound links are better :)
