Sidebar shorter than main

    Hello!

My goodness I am glad you all are here. Thanks in advance for reading this.

I have an HTML/CSS layout with a sidebar. I use an editor called HTML Kit, not a wysiwyg.

I am doing a 2 column lay out with the left area called sidebar and the main body content called main. I have style rules on my CSS for these areas and they have different bg images and are stylistically designed to look good together.

My sidebar content is not physically as long as the main, so the sidebar ends about halfway down the page and main keeps trying to wrap around the bottom. I want sidebar to go all the way to the bottom of the page no matter how long or short the main content is. Actually I want both columns to be full height no matter what, even if one is "blank" for a few inches.

Is there some way to tell the browser to keep the sidebar going all the way down to the footer even if it has no more content?
    I hope someone knows!
    thank you very much!
    marie
