Hi, I have been trying to fix the width of my site (http://www.smokinghelper.com) to 800px wide, which i seem to have achieved ok but i have a problem... When i click on an article title like http://www.smokinghelper.com/benefits-of-quitting-smoking/ the article loads to the right and the sidebar is below it :-( any idea what i've done wrong? Thanks in advance Jackie
it looks like a div tag issue (I didnt view source). if you havent already try it, do a float left, margin-left 500px (about) so the next div follows.
argh things have got worse... to be honest I don't really know what i'm doing here lol so it's all a bit hit and miss! article is now to the left but sidebar is still not in the correct place... and to make things worse i've changed something and now the sidebar on the main page isn't in the right location either :-9
Ok... i'm willing to pay to get this resolved, i need someone to tidy up my stylesheet etc so that a) my main site works 100% with sidebar in proper position and B) when you click on single articles from the site the sidebar etc remains in place - quites and offers welcome!
you must have done a " clear float " to have that happened to the page. Ideally, I think you should use a 'sandbox" to test out the code first, before submitting to host. e.g. duplicate the good code then use a directory call /test/ and upload before over writing . hmmm. i think i know what you did... you did a float left on ALL the divs. all you have to do is do a float left on the one you to stay on the left, also calculate the size of the right margin for the left div. then leave the rest of the divs alone, and it should follow. cheers and happy coding
Thanks for your help cheeky, i ended up re-installing the old theme and starting over - as far as i can tell everything is working now and fitting iinto 800px width (touch wood!)
looked at the site, didnt test it but looks good. good job. ps. what is with the 5 dollar trick to get traffic? lol does it work? cheers
