I'm sick of paypals stupid fee system. I had $1.33 tonight and got $9 more and ended up with $9.77 Enough is enough, after this month or so I'm never using paypal again. This is for a hosting bill of $9.95 so it's pretty important stuff. First payment : $9 First fee : .56 cents Second payment : $1 Second fee : .34 cents You rock paypal !
For what it's worth this is a business account also. I don't know how paypal sets their 'standards' but maybe they've heard a little something about how customers like consistency.
I was charged US$5 for currency exchange plus their fees just to pay for hosting which cost US$9.95 and end up paying US$14.95. Since than, use my CC to pay for my hosting instead and they charge whole lot lesser. Though I wish more places accepts moneybookers
They have a minimum fee of 30 cents. In addition to that, they charge a particular % of the value of transaction. Use a personal account for low value transactions. Paypal aren't doing business for free- they need to make profit too.
It depends on you. If you are running a business, you can't really use a personal account because you are restricted to getting only five credit card payments. If the person in question is paying out of his paypal funds, then why not ?
For a personal account, there is no fees unless they came from credit card funds. But their business account fees are pretty high especially for smaller amounts.
Try getting both a personal account and a premium account. Personal account allows you to get money without charges but it can only take 5 credit card payment a year. I would only use premium to take credit card payments. Paypal charges 1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30 USD Dont bother selling products for $1 because you wont earn much from it. The bigger your payment is, the more you save from this.
They might have high fees, but understand they're a bsuiness and not a charity. I'd be happy that they didn't kept all $10.
Two alternatives: 1) a merchant account 2) Google checkout I don't know enough about your business to say whether either might be helpful, but the merchant account makes sense if you're doing high-volume and/or high-ticket items. And Google checkout isn't charging any fees to accept credit cards until 2008.
