Showing Competitor's Price vs. My Price

    Hello All,

I run a webstore that is in the same niche as another webstore (who could have guessed :D). We sell almost identical products, except that my prices are lower then theirs by a fair margin.

So for marketing I was thinking of placing their prices followed by my lower ones. However my real debate is whether or not I should use their name or just a phrase like "our competitor".

    What are your thoughts?

    Best Regards,
    Nick

    Hi Nick,

I think you should use the "our competitor" one. Not sure if you can put their name like that. But i think it would be a good idea to do something like this.

Let us do know what you end up doing:p

Add banner on your website where you can tell to visitors that you are selling products at low price than any other like advertisement banners. It will help.

Well , probably if you show their name you can end up in some problems...you can maybe put something lowest price on internet! or something like that, and you link that sentence to a page where you explain that you can guarantee that your products are cheaper that everywhere ;) or you can use a kind of logo linked to a page where you describe your strategy

I'd avoid using their name, because it may cause people to go "double check" your facts. They may then remember their name in the future instead of yours.

I haven't had much luck (and haven't heard good things) about competing purely on price.

I do not compete purely on price, but it defiantly helps to have the lowest price.

It's a great idea. However avoid using their name as you will be indirectly promoting them too.
Comparison with competitors and reasons why you are better is a nice way of getting sales.
