me too...i was hoping for something like this, but i decided to just create an archive folder instead. you should put this on vbulletin.org dp
I'm glad you don't follow the Dilbert principle. I have seen people justify their existence for months on a couple lines of code. It takes them weeks before they touch the keyboard.
I like the idea, but I think it would be more beneficial if it would display the amount of days since the last post, since some threads that are a year old are still active. Furthur more, it would cut down on how many you see since most threads on the first page have been posted in today. It should distract, since it is supposed to defer from posting in old threads. I just don't think it should be in every title. Maybe only list it on threads that haven't been posted to in three days. You wouldn't have to look at it when reading new/semi-new posts, but it would remind members if a thread is really old (no posts in a while).
no i think he means to turn on the verbatim feature, posted today, posted 3 minutes ago etc. i had that on for a bit but people didn't like it
Oh yeah... I don't like that mode either. I use the "in between" option... straight date/time except for today/yesterday (in case you can't see. hehe).
Take the thread about "a good tool that dp didn't code" or whatever it is...it is extremely old, but still active. Just doesn't make sense to me to have a huge number that could *possibly* stray people from posting in that thread. But I like the idea, just figured I'd throw in my 2c...
I think its great the way it is (and I'm not just saying that to get some green from Shawn). My biggest problem is reading an old thread over again. Now I can easily scan the page for new threads.
well the date beside the post isn't like, "DON'T POST IN IT!!!!" it's just to tell people that the info in it may be outdated.
That is the reason I showed up in here. I was trying to figure out the meaning of the number and why it was being placed there. Right now it is distracting to me, but that may be because it is new. I really dont see a need for it though
Yeah, I agree. I guess if it was a "google update" or some thread similar, a start date would be beneficial. Plus, having the last post time twice would be stupid... fryman, I see what you are saying. I was just saying if a good discussion is going on for months, it should continue despite the date started. But I understand more times then not, it's the other way around and pepole are bumping old, and most of the time, pointless threads.
hi! thanks a lot! it really helps to avoid "outdated" threads that someone used just to increase his number of posts. by the way, why dont you limit the number of posts for new members to 10 posts per day until they got 50 posts? that way they just dont post to reach that number, they would have to come at least 5 days to prove they are not forum spammers and later they can post without limit per day. anyway thanks for this new feature! ; )
Has the faded thing out by the threads that says how many days old they are always been there, because I swear I've just noticed them. Or is this something shawn just added?
I thought I just started noticing them myself, figured I was blind enough not to see them, but shawn must have changed it today.
