That's an even better idea... done. True... I dunno man... we'll see how it goes. If it sucks, I'll just disable the plug-in.
Another suggestion was some kind of popup message saying "this thread is xxx days old, are you sure you want to reply to it?" or something like that
I really liked the idea of the age on the same line as the thread starter until you said that and I could see what would happen... Perrow - 2 days old
not a popup, a DHTML popup...vbulletin has some really nice ones - they're just not used often, but they look like the microsoft screen, i forget when they show up...if i remember right they happen when you use the AJAX quick reply, etc. but they're really nice looking perhaps just like "This thread is over X days old. Do you want to post anyways?"
I really don't link the "x days old" thing. The font is way too pale to even read on my laptop, and its distracting to look at (mainly because of that). Maybe we could get an option in our CP to turn it off or on?
I like your idea of being able to turn off. I could read it without any problem but found it distracting. Shannon
As someone said, it is disctracting because it is a new feature, give it a few days and it will start blending in
Well it's definitely not going to be an option for a little while. Want to see if people get used to it or not first. Everyone hated the green forum at first, but then most people decided they liked it.
Its a little better. I can see it without highlighting it now. I guess I'm not sure the point of it. If its to dissuade newbies from digging up 4 month old threads, I doubt that'll happen.
Actually, I kind of like it from an admin/moderator standpoint. Makes it easier to tell which threads have already been checked for being in the proper forum.
Or the Similar Threads links below. Only allowing threads less than say 30 days from last reply show up there might generate less bumping, if that's possible to do.
Not without putting unnecessary load on the system. Right now the "similar threads" are stored in the DB per thread, so they don't update (even if there is a new thread that would have been similar) unless you run the "regenerate all similar threads" thing from the admincp.
Perfect. I love it. I also love how something can go from idea to working perfectly in a matter of hours. Most corporations would take over 6 months to get out of the idea stage. Much longer in the government.
