    Guys,

if any of you have any constructive advice as to how you think I could improve my click through rating, please let me know!

This is currently my most popular site, yet the CTR is only averaging 1.5% over recent months.

I'd be particularly interested to hear any advice you have with regards to adsense and CMS, as my content largely comes from that.

    My site is: www.AirlinerNews.com

    Cheers!
    Matt

Instead of the 460 adsense banner use a 250*250 google adsense block or maybe a little larger, this should definitly double your CTR.

The best advice is to put a skycraper ad on the left side, same set up as the latest forum post menu.

Mybe resized the main news area so that the top adsense banner can fit then blend it with the content.

Add a text link at the bottom outside that white colored area you have there or put it on that red area at the top.

Flip your columns and put a skyscraper in the left hand column followed by what is currently below the adsense in the right column. Obviously move forum latest into the right column. First point of 'eye' real estate...

Also can you get an adsense block in between the news articles maybe half way down? I know its below the fold but may get the scroll clikers clicks..

the block ads, 300x250 etc...are the best I think...if you place them with your content...they work good

Great website. It looks to appeal to the layman crowd -- not the no-clicking geeks!

The ads you have are not too eye-burning, if you have a low CTR try seeing what you can do to increase your traffic -- maybe add a more detailed blog to the site or regular content updates on a schedule.

I just clicked on one of your ads, it was an ebay ad that said Boeing 707 for sale, so I had to see if they were really selling the real plane. I suggest using link units. They sometimes get confused as navigation menu items and end up getting clicks.

Please allow me to make a suggestion, not regarding the AdSense, but to the content. You now have, on the homepage, a lot of blocks like this:

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ (title+date)
    ########
    ########
    ########
    ######## (logo)
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (article introduction)

I beleive it would look much nicer if you do smth like:

    ######## ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
    ######## Date
    ######## XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    ######## XXXXXXXXXX

    What do you think?

About AdSense... i beleive that 120*600 is the best... if you integrate it in your design, you'll have good results. Look how i placed it:
    hXXp://www.coredownload.com/download-ImTOO-MPEG-Encoder-9164.html
    (replace XX with tt)
