Shoutwire - like Digg but not exclusively tech.

Im not affiliated in anyway, someone posted a link to Shoutwire in a Digg thread, and felt it needed it's own place. Digg is great because you get a direct link to your site's tech news content. Shoutwire seems to be a copycat, but without the tech exclusiveness. Looks brand new and appears to be catching on fast.

Yeah, I love the digg idea. But was dispointed that it didn't apply to my sites. I'll check Shoutwire out.

 

They seem pretty new, but I'll be trying them out when I get all my stuff together and running, since I'm new too.

 

I wonder how many other Digg clones are going to crop up.

I made front page of shoutwire and the rss feed is picked up buy torrentspy .com, a PR6 site. I am getting a lot of traffic from both sites now.

Thanks, it's been up on front page for about 45 minutes with over 1K visitors and it only took 9 or 10 votes to make it to the front page.

 

No kidding, same thing happened to me also. I only got 6 votes, and I couldn't figure out where 400 uniques came from... looked at the logs and was wondering how I had so many hits from torrentspy.

Does shoutwire have "friends" groups, so you can keep an eye on each other's submissions easily?

Many thanks. As you might tell from my avatar, I have a fish-keeping site. Hence the interest in a Pets category.

 

I've emailed the Bugs@ address they give. Well, I said "pets" or "animals" because that could cover a whole host of news stories.

I'll let you know what they say in this thread.
