Should you put article submitted to directories on your site?

I've submitted an article to article directories and was wondering whether i should put the same article on my site? This article is original and not found anywhere else.

Will it be detrimental to my rankings if i have the same article which will be on lots of different sites on my site? Should i have put it up on my site first before submitting to article directories?

I wouldnt put the exact same article on your site. Try rewriting the article so that a decent chunkj of it is fresh, that will be more benefit for Google and for your visitors.

I think that you have to wait for about 2 month to start determining any profit from it . But I have read that this is a realluy good option.

You can edit it and use rather than copy paste.

Never put the same article on your sites, you know the dup content issues, article sites are exempted by google (i assume) for dup content - that is the reason why u find many articles ranking high in serps for certain keywords, but that in your site....well dont do it

I suggest not to publish the same articles on your site that you already submit to the article directories. coz it is possible that the said article is already crawled and might be penalized for duplicate content. You can publish it, but be sure those articles are significantly different that it won't get your site filtered or penalized specially by google.

Thank you all for your feedback.

So it's not a good idea to put the same article which you've submitted to article directories on your site then, just like you people have said. One question though, if i had the article on my site first and it was already crawled by Google, would it therefore be a good candidate for submission to article directories or should i always feed a fresh and original article to the directories?

    Much appreciated your thoughts!

    There is no duplicate penalty.

Google will choose the article with the most authority, so if your site is new chances are your version of the article just won't rank anywhere. So it's best to rewrite it, or only submit short summary versions to the directories and publish the full one on your site.

So publishing a duplicate won't hurt you, just don't expect much traffic for search terms contained in the article.

Sweetfunny is pretty much nailed it for you there.

I would always recommend doing it the other way around, just for saftey sake (post it on your site then syndicate it a month later) but I have not really seen dup penalties other than when full pages, including code, are copied
