Should you promote an RSS feed for forum?

I am building a new finance related website and want to have a forum in a subdomain where people can interact together and ask questions about various finance related issues.

My question is this, I was thinking of having an RSS feed for syndication to draw traffic into the forum. It is my understanding that vBulletin does this. Can PHPBB do this? Do others that host forums do this?

It's always better to have something than not, it all depends on your members. Are they techy? Do they subscribe to feeds?

Yes, PhpBB has a mod called Topics Anywhere (I think is the name) that will produce an RSS feed and more. It allows you to post information such as certain forums or posts anywhere you want (including outside of the forum).

I'll have to try out that mod for my free forum host
