Some companies do it because it's considered an entertainment site, security hazard, or something not work-related. Other companies consider Facebook an essential part of marketing-- to network with others. What do you think?
Unless you're employed in a marketing department that is clutching at straws for ideas, Facebook isn't work. And if you are using Facebook on a work network, you deserve everything the IT dept does to your profile.

This is wrong and they should block Facebook. If facebook is related to something at work, than facebook can be majority to their work. (like radio station).

Depending on the companies profile and activity Facebook can be a security hazard or a tool . For a Web design company it's a tool . For a company like US Steel is a security risk and a time waisting website .
