I know they say that auto-following is a great way to increase your own followers, but I am tired of all the junk in my twitter feed....

I have a bad experience my self too. I don't like the fact jumping my twitter post with caps every time I make a tweet. Also the quality sucks!

If you auto-follow you will end up with loads of junk, if this a feed that you actually bother with then I would be more vigilant if i were you.

I had a US divorce lawyer follow me and I didnt see the need to follow back. I had a German guy follow me who was tweeting in German. Again I didnt see the need seeing that I didnt understand a single word he was saying. With auto follow you dont actually know who you are following and as youve said yourself your feed is full of junk.

Quality over quantity. Give it a personal touch and follow people who are potential customers as well as interesting people/sources.

I think auto following is a bad practice - for the most part you're just gonna end up with a bunch of people who aren't people at all - just robots. It might be an OK strategy for affiliates using twitter, but if you're a real person just trying to enjoy the experience, I recommend avoiding autofollow.

Dont mash up your personal account for advertising or for affiliation.

Auto-following does nothing but increase your crap tweets that you have to see daily, increase followers who are not interested in your content, and isn't worth the time unless you have some sort of positive goal for it.

Auto-following sucks. Don't even start that. Just tweet good quality content and you don't have to worry about loosing followers. Follow only most popular and well socialized, those who will talk with you and even retweet your tweets. I'm searching for those now.

Sometimes auto follow is not good, you should separate personal twitter and twitter that you use for business
