I think it should. I never heard of the idea but I think it's great. Sometimes I'll mistype something in a rush and get some chicks boobs in my face... if I'm at work, well- that's even worse. LOL! I think it's a great idea... sort of like 900 numbers.
Well, it was proposed before ICANN some years ago and they turned it down...it would have been better if a definite "red light area" was kept aside on the web and any adult site using any other extension would lose the domain to ICANN.
But adult sites are using normal .coms addresses. One point to make is these sites are making billions of dollars so they would lose money so they would most likely fight the move to .xxx
Why move at all if they don't want to. Newer sites can get xxx domains, .com is so saturated already for the adult industry.
Yeah, this would be a good idea. The other note is that, I think ICANN should transfer all adult related sites to .xxx extension if .xxx extensions are made. I don't think that would be a good idea however.
Yes I do think .xxx should have been created for Adult Sites as it would have streamlined such sites and could have avoided unwanted bumping into porn sites for many.
IMO, .xxx should be created, and all adult sites should use them, new or old. Parents can ban those websites with .xxx extension on their browser so that their children will be safe.
I think so, that would be a perfect way to distinguish it from other types of websites. May be a good way to incorporate some regulation into the internet.
I vote for .xxx for all the new sites created hereon...but i dont think the already established adult sites will join the trend...
I'm going to be the discerning voice here and say NO!, it's not a good idea. The whole idea behind it is to make the internet safer for kids to surf the internet, without parents fearing that their kids will stumble upon any porn. It is absolutely impossible to make sure that ALL porn sites are a .XXX domain. It would be a much better idea to have a ".kids" domain (or similar). That way, you can restrict which sites are allowed to be given a .kids domain (sites like yahooligans, nickelodeon, etc..). Then, Comcast and AOL can come along with parental settings that let parents set it so their children can ONLY visit ".kids" domains. If the ".XXX" domain is used, you're still going to have porn on .COM and .XXX. Whereas if you use the .KIDS top level domain, you're guaranteed that the content on any of those domains has been reviewed and approved.
Oh come on Trevalar, so you mean a kid won't be able to visit a website which has non-kids information? Sort of like... maybe a news site? IT
