When Web Designers are designing modern sites, should they accommodate for IE6? i think only Like 6-7% use this but should they go out of the way for that 6-7%?

    Hi

you don't have to bother with IE6 anymore cause it is not supported anymore. You had to hack for IE6 a year ago, but now it's only important that your site is usable on IE7 and not crashing. You won't see and CSS3 effects on it but for those who are using it they don't care about CSS3 effects :)

IE6 is no longer a threat this days, but i would suggest that you track your website visitor and know the used browser so you can properly address

Actually nobody uses IE6 or even IE7 nowadays so we don't need to care much about that, IE will die soon as well!

Dont worry much in IE6 , nobody use anymore IE6 and i think its dead ... Not 6-7% but only 1% of visitors online use IE6 and those who use IE6 i think dont understand much about design.

In my opinion, i would only worry about it if you are aiming for chinese traffic. I asked this questions to get peoples response. Everyone seems to agree that IE6 users don't care about design, i myself agree. So i guess the questions now is why would people be using IE6. with all the browsers out there what makes IE6 so special that you still want to use it.

I think a good programmer must do that and as they are professionals they must do what they should do actually.

IE 6 is out of date nowadays so it is no longer a problem for website designers.

If your customer doesn't ask for it, then don't bother! You'll have enough worries with IE8 alone. The percentage that uses IE6 is below the 1% and usually that's only some companies which need it due old ERP systems.

If you check the site's stats you'll see how many of your users use IE6. If one or two of them do, you don't have to worry about it (unless this is a corporate site that must work properly for all its customers). If most of your users use IE6 and you ignore it, you'll lose most of your users.

It's still too early to make a blanket statement about whether any particular site can ignore 6. I'd ignore 5, even if you have a few users running it, but not 6.
