i have sites with "meta tags". Some i don't put any meta keywords. I don't see any big difference in Search Engine Rankings between those with and without meta keywords. But it doesn't hurt to put meta tags though.

Some people remove the description and keywords in order to hide which keywords they are targeting.
I don't know when they have started doing this but I saw it recently.
When did you see the descriptions and keywords missing in your comptitors' sites for the first time?

In addition to the meta description being that click-through call-to-action to your audience, Google also supports Rich Snippets, which are designed in a similar fashion to give end users much more information about the content of your page, in a bite-sized format. e.g. You can include author information and all sorts of things, to give a page a greater degree of credibility and humanise it for your visitors (in the engine). These aren't really new, I know quite a few SEOs who have been touting it for a long time, and who basically build websites based around the snippets, but they are really coming to the fore.

Meta keyword has no value for Google but there is no harm in writing meta keywords as some of the other search engines or content parsers might find it useful.

    Maybe.

Google doesn't give attention to META KEYWORDS. It's been a decade since it doesn't.

But other search engines, directories might... (few, though...).

You must write good descriptions, though. Google uses the DESCRIPTION. Keywords could be optional. Keywords should not hurt, only that Google doesn't count them in SEO.

Now a days yahoo and bing also ignore meta keywords. So there is benefit of using meta keywords tag on our site.

Usually Google looks for Title & Meta Description.
But i prefer using Meta Keywords too,
    There's no harm using this.
Use Meta Keywords, But keep it short.

Everyone is saying... Google, yahoo, bing etc. search engines are not giving any importance to meta keyword. So... you should NOT use it. This sentence does not make much sense to me.

Yes.. if someone say... if you use meta keyword tag then "this wrong" will happen to your website, so you should not use it, then it will make some sense to me.

I do use meta keyword tag, I know it will not help much, but it will not harm at all. Atleast it make myself clear that I am targeting these keywords on this page. Another thing... it make a list for me which I usually compare with search query in google's webmaster tool. This is useful for tweaking the on-page contents and off-page link anchors.

Yes Off course you have to write Meta Keyword on your Page. It helps search engine to find out your website. If you haven't any Meta keyword on your page then it is impossible (except site like Facebook) to be on search engine on top ranking. So use meta keyword on your site.

Google is not caring about the meta keywords at all, you should not give importance to it but keep the keyword tag optimum with relevancy. other search may concerned with meta keyword tag.
