Users still have the choice not to use google but they are still using it shows its serving the users better.
Anyway its a matter of personal choice but the market is always dominatate by the best and google dominance reflects that it is best to date

Why you are asking dear....should we trust the Google. We know a lot of algorithms implement by Google because it is refining their search engine ranking database.

Just look at this page and you tell me if you should trust Google: http://internetassociation.org/

Google and all the top ecommerce leaders (Amazon, eBay, etc.) have joined together to be the voice of the internet economy or so they say. This group lobbies government to enact laws that benefit them, and nobody but them.

Google has went into an aggressive mode to monetize anything and everything they can, including many small businesses that can't afford to play the Adwords game.

Google is not a monopoly. By definition, a monopoly is "exclusive control". And Google does not have exclusive control. Bing, Yahoo!, etc., are competitors. Google is simply outperforming them right now. Things change; they usually do. Example? — for a while, IBM dominated the computer world. But no more, since other companies (HP, Dell, etc.) have competed well and taken away market share.

Personally, as a professional webmaster, I'm thankful that Google is out there. They send me by far the majority of my traffic. I don't try to "game" them, but just follow accepted web design guidelines. If you do that, you will do fine.

I just can't wait until they get some real competition. We all need that IDC WTF anybody says...
They may not be a monopoly but they are close to it.

Google is a publicly-traded corporation. As such, their primary motivation — which is the same for all publicly-traded corporations — is to maximize return for the stockholders, not to make things easy for webmasters. That's the way the business world works, whether we like it or not.

No, we don't trust them. It's obvious they don't trust us, that's why they are keeping so many secrets.

Hai Buddy i can say Google as a best friend instead of saying as a SE. May be you were partly wrong on your search. I think that's why you neglect to use that SE. If you search promptly, then it'll never give you such bad results on SERP...

That's bullshit - have a look how many threads are around here, only on DP forums about their ridiculous results nowadays.
They are manipulating the results in order to earn more from their own ads - adwords! Why would otherwise Beth (the one that successfully sued MS in the 90's) be after them now?
They are just after revenue from adwords, hence stock share pricing, that's all in my eyes...
No place to talk about trust here...it is just business - brutal, competitive, greedy.......

Of course they don't trust us. Why should they? You and I both know that if they were to let their "secrets" out (for example, their algorithms), we webmasters would be attempting nonstop to work the system to give ourselves an advantage over those with no webmastering skills.

Me, I don't trust the cloud. I don't know that I ever will. Yet I have a Gmail account and I use Google Maps and a variety of other Google tools all the time. At this point in the evolution of the Internet, it's impossible not to. Let's just hope that those in control of our information can truly be trusted to do the right thing. Hope, in the end, is all we can do.
