Should we stop using PayPal now?

    Hi

I am sure you guys might have come to know about new issue that PayPal has raised for their Indian users. According to their email, you can not send payment out side, that you will receive for selling goods and services abroad. You think after all this there is any use of PayPal left for Indian customers?

We can only receive funds in our PayPal account and then withdraw them in our bank account, what if want to use them for purchasing services or products? We need to use our credit cards..wtf?? I think its time for all Indians to think something over PayPal now.

Guys what are your opinion on this?

    Thanks

Well i dont understand why so many have so many issues with paypal and keep using only this.
Most of my income is not from paypal though, even if i accept it daily. If your out of clues of
payment processors guys, then i suggest looking at the payment processors listed in my second signature link.

I understand your frustration radhika. Please understand that assuming that email is legal one, for Indians Paypal is the best choice at the moment for Receive - Hold (30 days) - Withdraw, but for for Receive - Hold (longer than 30 days) - Pay in US$ we need to search some other service provider. I have created a post & poll here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1764736. to find out what you guys think the best option for paying in US$ (only for indian members)

    Finally, Self realization.. Good evaluation..!

yes.. there are good other alternatives, its foolish to incarnate a system to be monopolistic. So the result of monopoly is always devastating..

I haven't got any e-mail or any indication of this issue. Can you link to a news item or paypal blog that says this?

I thought all the issues were resolved.

Even I have got that Paypal email saying That funds received into your paypal account may only be withdrawn and cant be spent for online purchases. This in my opinion is ridiculous.

I dont want anybody else to control my money and I am currently looking at other options. My all current deals are through Escrow.com.

I dont think switching to other payment processor is a good idea. What all is happening to paypal, may happen to other payment processors also. Its RBI who is committing all this and want the money to feed corrupt folks there...

This is the big problem, they seem to have a monopoly. In addition, many clients from across USA and Europe prefer using Paypal since they do not encounter similar problems that India does.

We don't need to switch to some other payment processing company from paypal right now.

If this email is not spam, then we need two accounts

    1) Paypal Account : (95% of earnings should go to this account) withdraw it in INR. Best suited for us right now

    2) We need another account from some other payment processor which allows us to hold US$ for unlimited time frame & allow us to pay in US$. Here we can have 5% (or what ever is your need) of our earnings stored in this account to make small payments in US$.

Some of you might say that if RBI rules apply to PP then they will apply to all other companies as well. But I think (& I may be wrong) that if other companies are not registered in India with RBI then they may not be required to follow RBI directions. So the rules which apply to Paypal may not apply to all payment processing companies.
