I don't think we have a choice, unless we choose to go with Linux or other. WinXP is being discontinued for licensing effective Jan 28th, 2008.

I suppose my bias shows when I say that it's time for a larger group of computer savvy individuals to switch to linux. Personally, I see no reason why I should pay a bunch of money for an operating system when I can get one for free that does everything I need.

Everything I've heard about Vista suggests that it's just a pretty desktop interface and a theme change for XP. Turns out I can get that pretty desktop from compiz fusion.

Just seems like a waste of money for me.

Vista will replace XP sooner or later and after we'll see first vista Service Pack, all bad opinions about this OS will dissapear.

I have been using it for over a year and i have nothing bad to say about it - i have a few issues with those who dont make drivers for a new OS but there products gather dust - the truth is it will do what XP did and just keep growing in usage until it dominates or a competitor comes along.

Vista is going to replace XP just like XP replaced 98 and 2000.

Oh and Vista is more than just a theme replacement considering the major kernel changes which destroyed tons of drivers as a result but cleaned up the mess that had been created from allowing stupid things to be done.

Not at the moment, until all the drivers support Vista, then they can replace XP. I still prefer XP than Vista.

I still prefer XP, I think Windows 7/Vienna is gonna replace XP, And Vista is going to be known as the OS that never quite made it.

Windows Vista should/will replace XP, though Microsoft should patch those "newly" introduced problems in Windows Vista (esp. the problem on software compatibility).

I hate vista, installed three times ... but didn't last more than 1 month everytime.

Vista will replace XP from next year but vista is too far to proof itself against XP. I believe XP is one of the best product MS has ever built.

vista is geared toward the newer technology and abilities new pcs are offering now and will expand on. I like it fine, i'm trying to wander what everyone is so upset about.
