interested to hear what people from the UK feel about this
im from scotland personally and the election is coming in May, which could see the SNP lead scotland to independence and subsequently, leave the union. is the Union outdated in your view?

The break up is initiated by people who have personal and political aims that will ultimately be for their own gains not for the people in general

The country should in fact do the complete opposite folks should get off their arse and pull together to unite the UK and pull it back together, and do it now while there is still something left to Unite

I think they should, it is a religious war going on there for hundreds of years, as in all parts of the world.

IMHO Scotland deserves independence, Northern Ireland should become part of the Republic again (or else become an independent state) Wales however I dont think has a really big drive for its own identity.

    AKA Screw the Empire.

Why worry about it? Eurabia is under way now. France is first, GB is next and it will just expand, as it did once before. Move to Australia.

Is Gtit posting about the world outside texas again.
Very funny considering if he ever took a trip outside of the US he would get a rude awakening.
But I guess knowing nothing about a subject never stopped him from shooting his gob off before.
If he says anything worthwhile be sure to quote him (I have him on Ignore), and take a picture of the flying pig.

You must have me confused with the Jews and Christians you hate. Ironically, I support the Iraqi people and don't want them left to the terrorists. You, in fact, want the US to pull out so terrorists can take over.

Talk about an ironic twist on who cares about whom

Oh lets not start with the terrorist bull again.
Is Gtech starting that in here, keep it on topic.
the only think I dislike more than terrorists is republicans who wont shut up about the "war on terror".

In fact if we didnt have people like Gtech and Bush, terrorists would be no 1 on the worlds hit list.
    Ironic isnt it.

Indeed. Some morons believe it never existed before 9/11. They come around every few days to make a few cynical posts, then leave again.

personally, Scotland have there own Parliament and the structure is already there for us to break away. I think Scotland would then be more prosperous and we will have a greater identity on the national stage, similar to norway and ireland who have done a similar thing

i would consider myself scottish before british for sure. do others feel the same?

I have lived in England my whole life - if the Scottish and Irish public want independence, then why not? We are no longer an empire - we are spineless doormats who hide behind the bigger countries and pick on the smaller ones in the name of freedom and human rights. We swaggered through history and look at us now - virtually no identity, no culture, no real anything. The EU say jump and we bleat "how high?"

We need to let go of this "rule Britannia" idea coz it simply isn't the case. We had our time and we found new places, screwed up entire civilisations and destroyed whole cultures with our ideals. It's about time we backed off, had a damn good personal assessment and then move on from there.

England is no longer the country that our ancestors fought for - it's hard to be patriotic when a bunch of mindless muppets run the place.

The empire was not English, nor Scottish, Welsh or Irish, it was British.

A United Kingdom is always going to be stronger than any of its single members.

But if Scotland wants to break away, I'm against keeping them with England.

But all would loose, and there's nothing to gain.

And what about the EU? Where countries are trying hard to unite and gain strength, particularly against the big players such as the US, China, Russia, etc.

What's the point of being in the EU and seeking independence from England?

Is Scotland going to stay out?

Personally I think that the UK, together, united, has a big chance of becoming a very influential country in the world again, if only they made the best of the opportunities they have, such as the commonwealth, the links with the US, EU, the connections with the other English speaking countries in general, such as the Echelon ones, etc.

The only reason why I would understand the Scots from wanting to leave the UK, and they are perfectly entitled to do so if they want, is because the UK is run by idiots and being taken over by foreigners that dislike England itself.

I might even think that in the future many Brits would like the idea of moving to an independent Scotland rather than in a muslim lead England.

    Good bye Leicester Square....

Please keep Bush out of this thread!

    :)
