If you are expecting traffic from search engine then your domain should contain the keyword. this is one of the basics of seo
It's not as improtant as some factors, such as the anchor text of incoming links, but it's something you should do if you have the choice. It certainly helps. It's not completely necessary though, many sites do fine without keywords in their domain. Just look at Amazon, eBay, plus much more.
Here is my own experience: I run an online Shop whos main keyword is zentai (tightshop.de). It took me 1.5 years to get on page 3 in google for the search term zentai. 2 weeks ago i made up the same store ith another adress zentaistore.com - I am on page 5 already without any PR. So in my opinion it is neccessary and i totally agree with rajanforums. I guess Ebay and Amazon are not compareable, since these dont work on keywords and have contracts with google about te ranking and so on...
It is not neccessary but it makes life alot eaiser if you can have your keywords in your Domain name... But NO dashes...and if you cant find the keywords domain..the go with something short and sweet that people will remember.
Why no dashes? I have been told that dashes are fine SEO wise, although not as good for people to remember. I doubt sites like Amazon and eBay pay Google for their rankings. I'd guess it's more to do with their huge amount of backlinks. I do agree that keywords in the domain name will make a big difference though, I just don't think it's completely essential.
Hey it is necessary.. See I have one http://www.playonlinegames.co.in/ It's 3 days old but gets good traffic. Domain names should be easy to remember and also it should be search term relevant
It helps new sites. Particularly if you have a premium one-word domain. I started a new site using a one word .TV domain. It seemed to get some rank/respect quicker for queries that contained the keyword of the domain. BUT... it is not required. One of my more successful sites does not have any relevant keywords in the domain name...
rofl, def not. how many people do you honestly think search that long of a phrase. free-games.com would be ok. I wouldn't go passed two words with a dash. _Zack
No its not a good way for the search engine optimization, every search engine avoid it.. your site must be your brand. dont make it directory.but you can give the keywords in your inner pages. dimensionindia.com/outsource-website-services/SEO/search-engine-marketing.php Ambrish Shrivastava
You are having a total view of keyword in domain name? (If I know how to setup a poll, I will start one to collect more views)
No I dont think domain name to have keywords inside. There are many higher ranking websites dont' have keywords in their domainname but still manages to have higher ranks. I think if u put your keywords in between the <title> </title> tags, it would help to rank better in SERP's. The search spiders puts more weight on to these title tags
