Should Ricky Ponting retire from the Australia test cricket side? He is getting old and has played 150 test matches. Personally i do not like him and his captaincy style. The only reason to keep him in the side is the fact that he has played 150 matches, while the next most experienced has 66. I think some fresh captaincy tactics would help the team.
He should have given up on his captaincy long back, probably after the Aussies lost in the previous Ashes. However, his personal ambitions seemed to have overcome the desire of the nation to get back to their winning ways. Unfortunately for Australia, the question now is whether they have a cricketer worth his salt to be able to lead them in Tests. Is Michael Clarke mentally strong enough? The answer may be no.
Yeah i agree. All you see is ads with Ponting selling vitamins! Bring back Warne i say. He was a very good captain, plus the mental advantage we would have over the Poms.
Pointing is the great player of Australia. And i think he had to take retirement soon, as he play many matches. Now a days his performance is also going down.
Pointing is an excellent player but the recent form is very poor!! but he might get back his form soon!!
I dont think he should retire, he is going thorugh bad form thats all and I think during world cup he will be back in form
The problem is who replaces him if he does retire? Clarke is vice captain but does not give the impression he is ready to take over. Ponting cannot go on forever though, time is catching up with him.
I think he is waiting for WC 2011 because in my opinion if you take retirement after world cup it make your retirement memorable you can take example of Brain Lara Arvinda Desilva
