Should PM be allowed for people with Zero post

    Hi,

Just wondering, should PM be allowed for people with zero post.

I think there should be some restrictions like "Signature" for PM as well. Any thoughts?

    :(

PS:I searched, but couldn't find any rules specific to PMs. If there are any, I have not seen it and pardon my ignorance.

Hmm, I don't know an exact answer to this question. Half of me says yes and half of me says no. Why would a user with zero posts want to PM users anyway, one half of me says...to spam, to scam, to what?

My other half just took over my one half's decision. I say no, users with 0 posts should not have the PM feature enabled.

I got lots of business from a guy who sent me a PM at 0 posts with his starting query. So yes it should be allowed

Yes it should be IMO, but a 12 hour restriction before new users can use private messaging maybe good to combat PM spammers.

IMO if you find that someone is spamming/scamming via PM's with zero posts or n-number of posts just report them... that would serve the purpose

Then what would be the point dude....? They could just post once and then spam rather than waiting for 12 hours, its best to report spammers.

No a 12 hour wait would curb them better than just making one post and spamming away.

I disagree with this rule and any compromise. People dont want to wait for 12hours to send a PM when they want to buy something. It is invalueable to business.

Hmm, then neither. Preserve the status quo :p

As long as spam gets duly reported...

If pm is dissabled for people with 0 posts, there will be 1 piece of spam on the boards as well as the pm spam for each spammer. :p
