Should my phpbb forum sit on a sub domain or seperate domain?

I have a site with content + a forum. My problem is google is ignoring the forum completely, despite having all the usually phpbb mods and general SEO work done

My forum currently resides as mydomain.com/forum

    So my question is this:

Should i move my forum to forum.mydomain.com would this make an improvement? The guys I'm employing are "unsure" so I'm hoping there are some professional people here who can help me with my dilema.

It cannot be this hard or expensive to get a forum into google, surely?

Google will index it whatever it's URL is. Something else must be going on. Care to share the URL so we can take a look?

Try submitting a sitemap to google...maybe they just haven't stumbled upon your forums yet and dont know they exist.

Aside from that, unfortunately I'm not really sure whether or not the subdomain would help you.
