I don't think that Microsoft should buy Yahoo, because if it does, Google will own the whole Internet.
DJ"E The Music Master I think Msn should not buy yahoo they need to spend money on they own search engine.they trying to gain more customer by buying yahoo this is sad.this is one of the reason Msn ranks new website.google and yahoo believe in age and quality.Msn just want the piece of the market that why they want to buy yahoo.
DJ"E The Music Master I hope yahoo turn Msn down don"t take the offer.I love yahoo and google.Msn sucks
Welll.... I don't know. I think Yahoo offers some good stuff that could appeal to MSN. I actually like the MSN search, even though it takes it a while to actually index pages. I think they like the idea of getting their hands on the Yahoo directory also. We'll see if it happens?
Unfortunately what we here think will happen, or would like to happen, is irrelevant unless one of us is a Yahoo! shareholder or a regulator. I plead innocent on both counts! Jim
Yes Microsoft should buy Yahoo. They need as much help as they can get online. But i think that Google will still dominate!
Yahoo is a little slow, but actually has the right idea for the most part. They're downsizing to cut loses and tighten up their core company. Yahoo! Live proves that they're looking for new ideas, and if they seem good enough, working to implement them. The only other company like that is google... MSN is only interested in buying people out. If MSN put that 44 billion to work in R&D, they could easily shore up their standings. Marketing isn't going to do it for them, they're already about as big as they're going to get on that front. If I had that kind of play money, I'd run a massive competition to get people creating new products and expansions for my search engine. Honestly, how many people do you know who would drop what they're doing and learn how to code so they can win a million dollars? There's hundreds of thousands.. Maybe even millions of creative and talented people out there. Tap into that potential, encourage people to form teams... And be relatively open-ended on what they can submit. Search engine algortyhms, black hat SEO prevention, user interactivity (for example, how could I improve email?), webmaster tools... Give people a chance to be inventive, and give them a reward for it and they will do amazing things for you. If a project is alright but not that good, offer the developer a lesser prize for letting you take it. If it's not good period, you don't have to give them a prize. Just don't use it. For the really good things you're certain will take off, give them the top prizes. In the end, Microsoft would wind up with at least a hundred good changes and products and websites, and several hundred that are good, but not great, then many, many, many more that people will either drop because they're just no good, or continue to develop on their own.
Actually, I think that Yahoo is worthless. Too much of its revenue comes from selling banner ads. Granted, Yahoo has a great database filled with valuable behavioral targeting data. But this is not worth 41 billion. I think Google should be happy that Microsoft will be expending a good portion of its nest-egg to buy Yahoo!
For the only thing that Yahoo should buy, it is for, one, don´t spend more money in improving your engine of search that makes sad, and two, destroying the competition of the messenger and of mail.
i think its good, because it means that microsoft will be in total control theyll probably just make it better and destroy the competition (google)
It's not just Search ngines and Advertisin that the companies are at war with. Search Advertisting Maps Portals (News, Weather etc.) Blogs (Well, Live Events vs Blogger) Messaging (Live Messenger vs Google Talk) All sorts of battles are raging, some which Google are wining, some which MS are winning. If MS got the aid of Yahoo's share of people who use their services, then the numbers would most likely equal or near equal Googles, pretty much getting a level playing field. And, MS has more funds than Google could hope for, and could invest heavily as someone pointed out, in aquiring control of IM, which a lot of people use. And progress from there. Or, i think that as someone has said, investing $44,000,000,000 into different aspects of online services would certainly up their stakes in the online world.
This may not be the case. Giants are born overnight. When innovation appears, industries are built overnight. Look at Kodak, used be a giant... (still are thanks to some quick thinking) digital cameras killed their film sales. What did they do? They shifted to focusing on high quality printer paper to aid in digital age. Same with Sega... they don't make the hardware anymore. Now they just develope games. Google may seem bullet proof, but trust me... it's not.
it should not happen. i like yahoo. yahoo is better than msn. if MS buyes yahoo then one day yahoo will be same as MSN, Vista etc etc
Microsoft wants to beat google or atleast wants to reach near that why they promise this much of billions
Yahoo needs to be merged with a giant, and what better company other than Microsoft! They've been keeping a keen eye on the Search Engine market for some time now, and realised their options for competing against Google, with their current resources is going to take too much time...So here comes the $44 Billion aquision offer, and hopefully if no-one else bids higher, Yahoo will end up with Microsoft. It's just what Yahoo needs. Yahoo were one of the first and most popular SE's, but for some reason they lack the capacity to take it further and really pose a threat against Google...they're just a little too laid back in terms of market dominance... Microsoft would completely change that around in a matter of 1-2 years! Fingers crossed! Microsoft should take over Yahoo...otherwise Google will continue to grow and become more and more greedy and we will all fall in their mercy!!
I agree when Yahoo should be merged with a giant, but it should be something but MS, MS already dominate OS market, and thats more than enough.
