I once read years ago, that listing the inside pages of your website on the home page or index page of your website (making them as hyperlinks), will provide better SEO for them. Of course, this was many years ago, prior to getting backlinks from like-minded sites, the DMOZ thing, all the updates Google goes through etc. I am currently rebuilding my current website (in my signature) which was built with Frontpage2002 and see all those catalog pages that are hyperlinks? Above that Twitter, LinkedIn & RSS icons? When I rebuuild using WordPress 3.5.1, is it still necessary to include all of them actually on the new index or home page?
If i am not mistaken, then a safe deep linking from homepage will strengthen your overall rankings. It will definitely help to pass the 'rank juice'.but i also seen from matt cutts' ,Google pays a sort of penalty for homepages that has suspicious deep links. So don't over do it.
A good SEO consultant will advise you not to send traffic to your homepage because these might increase the bounce rate.Visitors to your site will not be directed straight to the pages that has relevant information to your site, but instead they are directed to your homepage which does not have much to offer. The best way to do this is by deep linking.Deep liking means that traffic will be directed to the whole website thereby reducing bounce rate as visitors become loyal to stuffs in all your pages. In addition, with recent Google penguin updates your site can be banned if you are found to use such tricks to rank on Google.Google is trying to improve internet users experience in finding information and therefore optimising your whole website will surely improve your target audience search for information of your site. I hope this will help you make a wise decision.
This insight is helpful Falsebook and John B. What I will probably do then is "think" normal, not "think SEO" and just build my landing page the way I see fit and how I feel comfortable with the way it should appear to others. So far this is my landing page. Much, much more to do but it's very basic and it's a start. All of my inner pages will be presented on a single page I think, as keyword textlinks. That page will be linked to that text you see on top row (text worded as "Cartoon Catalogs") at very left. As I have roughly 50 separate catalogs and a separate page I need to build for each of those catalogs. I have a specific WP photogallery theme to devote to each catalog of images. This page is just one of those 50 inner pages....and I am not even finished with this one....but you get the idea.
Yes.Cartoons are for people. So you need to take care them, first. Then only Seo.internal link structure of a site is so important for both seo and people.from what i see, your site is simple and clean and has a PR of 4,which a plus sign .Good Luck
I appreciated hearing what my page rank currently is Falsebook....thanks for that. Last time I checked, it was at 5 and then I lost the tool I had bookmarked. As I went down a point, I noticed I need to improve my ranking....so decided to rebuild my presence using a good web editor (WordPress!)
Sure Dinlock. Google wants you and any other website to think like the customer who visits your website.Do you appreciate what you see or do you do it just to rank on Google? For instance i know maybe you have ever visited a certain site and you cannot see the information you want or immediately you enter the site, you are frighted by a video which starts to stream suddenly before you even command it to play.Any stuff that you feel does not give your visitor easy use of your site should be scraped. However, don't do away with SEO If you need to remain competitive. If you want to monitor you Google ranking in real time, use Georanker which allows you to produce monitor your ranking on Google on specific keywords. It also monitors your online competiors on those keywords. You are able to see when your rank is falling or rising by setting an automatic report . I hope this is helpful Dinlock
Good knowing all of this from you both! Just call me Dan. I created all the work you currently see in the catalogs in pages through my signature link. I didn't get a "free" theme for my new WordPress site, I bought one, because it offers good galleries for displaying my work. I also learned that You cannot create PayPal buttons and insert that code into a wordpress site. It's better to create a code, go to that EMAIL tab in the editor PayPal sends you and copy that and use it to link to an image you paste or insert on your site....which I finally learned how to do. That was frustrating me all day. HahHah!
I am determined to build it on my own John! Others say "hire a developer". Why? I would then lose ALL control of how I want it to look! Ha!
Oh, what I did was download and installed the TinyMCE Advanced plugin so I could edit in tables (using WYSIWYG in page view). If I tackled CSS straight on, it would take me another year to look at, study & learn and then experiemnt with it all to actually get a grip as to how it all is laid out.
