I have just set up a brand new directory and article site.Have submitted to main search engines and 100+ others and planning on directories etc. Only submitted today so my question is.....should I wait for it to be listed before I solicit entries? TIA
I would get as much on there as possible before the first crawl. Make the search engines see there is something useful on your site so they will want to come back and check again
Tougher to get people to submit to a new site, but you have a better chance of getting some page rank on the first pass if you have content in your site. I personally don't mind submitting to a new site if it's free and easy to do. PR 0 sites can eventually turn into pr5 pr6 in time.
I agree with this..SE's love content so keep the content coming..this is what will keep the bots coming back!!
There are many webmasters who really dont care about directory PR - all they want is a backlink. Start asap. If in future , your directory is indexed well and has a decent PR , you may make another request... for those who didnt submit the first time.
Hi - just added a suggestion for Aikido as a sub category (www.aikido-marquette.com). You say no affiliate sites - as I'm new to all this, I'd ask, do you mean, sites with commercial links on them, or sites which have only commmercial links and pages (no informational articles contained within the site). Thanks, Paul
I have added Aikido Sites with commercial links are ok.The rule is (as in most directories) no affiliate links ie do not submit direct links to products etc. Nice site northpointaiki.Added and approved.
You should also try to get on all of the Lists of directories that are on a lot of the SEO sites. There are a lot of people that use these when they want to submit their sites to directories. You'll find quite a few mentioned here at DP. Mine is at http://www.topwebsitetips.com/FreeLinks-Directories.aspx but you should try to get on all of them, they can provide an instant boost to the visits to your site. I'm building a directory of these lists for directory owners to use at http://www.frogengine.org. I hope to have this up soon.
