Hello, I have one question. Should I use short or long URLs when submitting my blog articles to social bookmarking sites? If I keep submitting them every two days, does Google penalize my sites for submitting the same social sites every day, like Facebook, google plus? If yes, should I use short urls instead? Thanks.
I don't think Google really cares what you post in a website. The website you posting to might have pages with duplicate content, and these pages have no value, or will be deindexed. If you refer to URL shortening, I like them for one main reason - you can track your visitors coming from each submitted site.
Good question, I always use short urls to share on social media websites such as google+, facebook, twitter, tumblr. I am sharing alternate linked posts from two years and getting traffic also.
Fully agree with "Montreal Classifieds" - Google is enough smart to figure it out. Use shorten urls and track your traffic. Recommend to consider Buffer, which has easy & helpful analytics tools.
Short URLs help you get more words in the post, better for marketing - I use the Google URL Shortener: goo.gl
It won't matter to Google if you submit/post the same links to social networking sites, or if you're using the short or long URLS. It does matter to readers/users/followers though. Instead of submitting the same URLs, why not share interesting pages on your site, or new articles on your site, or even other sites that will give value to your followers? That will help get you more likes in FB, or followers in Twitters. It can also get you more traffic to your site. Hope that helps. Have a good day!
It doesn't matter how long the URL is, Twitter will always shorten every link and take away 22 characters anyway.
Well, simply think that you MUST shorten your link when submitting to Twitter (since there is just 140 char for your message) - Shortening really help make your message clean.
You clearly didn't bother to read my post #14, did you. You would have known that this isn't true otherwise.
If you have a catchy domain, not very long and if you post interesting things, I think that your valuable content should be identified with your domain name. People who find your posts interesting will easily remember your domain name because they will see it more often on facebook, twitter etc.
Pinterest doesn't allow bit.ly or tinyurl. PinnedURL is a link shortener and URL redirect service with click tracking and allows you to include an alias. It works pretty well. http://pinnedurl.com
Exactly. It's nothing to worry about if you have a legitimate social media campaign. It won't be seen as spammy unless you spam. However, your own URL shortener could be useful as part of branding. For example, if your site is monkeysarefun.com then a domain such as monk.ey would be cool.
