Should I use same domain extensions?

    Hello,
I will be launching a web based business soon, which will have two sister concerns. But the problem is that I can not find the same extensions for the domains. .Net is available for both. .Com/Org is not. What should I do? Should I go for one .Net and one .COM Or both .Net?

I would have opted for having both the sister concerns on the same extension... i.e. .net! :)

or just try to aquire the .com now . developing .net and buying later makes price higher

You are right. I wanted to have .COM for both. But couldn't find any available even after a lot of altering in the name. But at the end, one of the .Com I'm looking for is parked and sedo is asking a whooping $2500 for it. :(

If you do see a profit potential to cover this expense, by all means start a negotiation for it... otherwise, it is best to start with a blank slate using .net names! :)

You should take Domain Privacy into your consideration also. Not only the domain price.... :) Good luck with your .Co.

Sometimes a good domain is worth the $2,500. Think long term and that will help you make the right decision.

In the long term, if this is a very profitable business and that .com domain name is really worth a lot, you might want to consider negotiating with that seller of that domain.

As RightMan said "If you do see a profit potential to cover this expense, by all means start a negotiation for it" =)

It's possible negotiate down to $1000-$2500, depending how valuable that domain name really is and whether that seller is in the rush to sell it.

I would say develop both sites on the .net, but also buy the .com that is available to redirect it to the .net :)
