    Hi Everyone,
    I haven't used proxy servers so far for SEO purpose. So can you suggest me on using proxy servers?
    And what are the benefits or drawbacks of using them.

    Proxy servers are usually used in the SEO industry and the reason is to change or hide their real IP address. Creating dummy account in Facebook and Twitter will need proxy server and this is to avoid blocking your real IP address from spamming their websites.

    Well their is a simple way just find an proxy IP and Port no., then manually you can place that IP and Port into your Firefox browser.

    1. Click the Firefox menu. Hover over Options, and then select Options from the submenu.
    2. Open the Advanced category. It is on the right end of the category list. Click on the Network tab.
    3. Click the Settings button. This will open the Connection Settings window.
    4. Choose “Manual proxy configuration”. This will allow you to enter information in the fields below.
    5. Enter your proxy information. Enter the proxy server that you are connecting to in the “HTTP Proxy” field. If you need to enter a specific port, enter it into the “Port” field.

    Caching reverse proxy servers can be really useful if you set them up in country of your users and use Geo location DNS to send them to the closet server they will be served your website content lightning fast (Not only due to a close location but the server will be caching static content) which we all know Google loves. Fast loading site = better rankings.

    I have had clients setup ~20 of these in locations all over the world to serve their website locally much faster.

    Obviously drawbacks are that you need to know what you are doing to set them up and maintain them.

    To hide your real IP address on the internet or circumvent ISP / Geo location blocks such as Netflix etc

    So your site is Geo located where your visitors are and that is loads extremely fast both of which Google likes when it comes to SEO

    Yes proxy servers can be used in the SEO related activities there are several forums or site that blocks you down when you are doing spamming or something like that, so proxy server provides the best way to hid yourself from the eyes of the admins. We all know that some work needs to done with some cover and Proxy Servers are the man behind the wheel that drives you out from the escape situation:cool:
