Should I use Pop Under in my sites?

So far I have no experience with pop up and pop under. I am wondering whether I should use pop up and pop under in my sites. What are the pros and cons of them?

The pro is that it's easy money if you have high traffic.

The con is that it may drive away recurring traffic.

Curious, what kind of website were you planning on using popup/popunders on?

It's entirely up to you but in my (limited admittedly) experience of them although they usually have a decent conversion rate they act as a deterent to visitors. Do you want to keep your visitors on side or make 0.1 cents everytime someone clicks a pop-up? I know which I'd prefer.

I was planning to put pop under in my directory site.

What do you think? Do people come and visit the directories from time to time or it is more like one visit to submit their sites? Do you think it is appropriate to put pop under if they are coming for only submitting instead of recurring traffic?

I sure wouldn't submit my site to a dir. with a popup, I might if it had high pr, but I'd prolly leave b4 I made it to the submit page.

I think it's bad. I disagree with pop-ups on principle because they are forced advertising - the visitor can't ignore a ghastly banner biting them on the nose. The whole pop-up idea is abhorrent.

I think you are sensible. I decided to put kontera instead of pop under.

kinda off topic, but not realy or is that kinda on topic, but not realy.:D

who visits a directory except people that submit a link? thats why i would also agree that it is a bad idea.
in all my years of being on the internet, not once i've been so board that i felt like browsing a directory.:D

popunders would be better and maybe more likely for them to click. they are less annoying but i would not suggest them as they do drive traffic away.

I prefer not to use them unless they're on a page of the site where I'm giving them something. So for a tutorial site, if i have a page with all the PSD files listed, i think its fair to show the user 1 pop up/pop under in 24 hours.
