Should I use free articles in order to have fresh content for my site?

I'm running a website in Wordpress with tons of free articles and not that many unique articles. Around ten pages are unique(not including the about, contact, etc. pages), but almost 100 pages I got from free article directories. I put my unique content under "Pages", while I separate the free articles with their specified category under "Categories".

Should I stop using free articles to supply my website with content or continue what I've been doing? Should I delete all of the free articles, so only the unique articles remain?

Well if you can add lots of unique articles, get rid of the free ones.

I think it would be better to have what you do now than just a 10 page site. So if I were you, I'd just leave it as is.

    hi

created a blog weeks ago, few weeks, 2-3 top, and the competition for one key phrase is this: 2.460.000

Today (and yesterday, and the day before) i´m placed in first page of Google for the major keyphrase with two urls of that blog.

So... go ahead and write unique and original content for something you are familiar with. Thats the road to sucess.

    :)

Originality is the best way to go. I would use the free articles as a starter but its best to write your own.

    Good luck!

Whoa, what all did you do to get to the top?

I'm asking about this because I cannot tell whether I'm not getting high rankings in Google because of my crap articles or just because I'm not getting enough links. I cannot tell if Google is holding it against my website because it has dupe content.

i've seen free articles do OK with PR and getting reasonable PPC cost (Adwords) but not with SERPs. Check the free articles to see how many sites are using them, if only a few they might help, if many (20 or more??) than it will hurt you.

I think that I may scrap all the dupe content pages. Will Google forgive me after indexing many dupe content pages? I would rather not have something on my website that would hinder my ability to get good rankings.

    that´s the spirit!
In almost every seo forum, seo blog, seo ebook, it´s the same tip: write original content everyday. If you do so, you can reach success where others can´t.

I´m not going to put my blog adress in here (you all know secret is the word, and jealous guys are waiting to crack on you) but i´d love to, because the blog is so fresh, targeted (2-4 keywords/phrases per post) and it ranks beautiful for 2.000.000 competitors. And i´m talkinf about web/tech, not salmons or whatever. So, one can make up their mind and feel free to decide.

I would definetly delete pages that are used on many other sites. You could keep the articles that appear on only a couple of sites. Another thing to consider is using robot.txt to tell the Google bot not to index certain pages.

I use free articles that I found while browsing the web and put it on my website. Is that ok? I put the source immediately following the article. Is that alright?

But to achieve good rankings, all i´ve did (and do) is write original and usefull content averyday.

that way the SE´s love me  because of the fresh, unique content, and visitors love me too ;) because of the exact same stuff.

Sometimes we´re all acting like kids... "what´s the big bomb to make us rich etc), and we forget the basic: get unique content and get it everyday. by the way, great Thread!

unique content is what we want to and what SE loves...it is better as your site will be trusted unlike when you just copy some other articles...though it is good to share something that you've found out like those valuable article but you don't have to copy lots of it...

Unique articles are better than the free ones. Free articles are used by new SEOs and if you are advanced enough, go create in unique articles

ok, here´s some tips from a (newbie) guy who does SEO (just) for a couple of months:

    - if the target is "numura" (don´t know what it is, don´t search for it :) ) create a text for 300-400 caracters with "numura" keyword and "numura" expressions, for at least 4 - 6 times per post or text ( great numura, car numura, airplane numura).

It works for me and for trizilions of other guys, along with others SEO tips you can find in DP.

If don´t know anything about "numura" or your niche, and just want to get some $ with a MFA site, well, i´m sorry, but i can´t help you :)

    But good luck anyway!

If you found an article on a free articles site, that is fine. But every article you find on internet are not free. If it is not a free artcle site, you might want to ask the webmaster before you copy.
