should i use 301 redirect from old domain to new domain?

hello
i just buy a new domain yesterday. now i still doubt to include 301 redirect old domain to new one. cause my old domain name is not related with the product name i planned to buy a new one.please give me some advice and why i should use 301 redirect? my old domain pr rank only 1.

If your new site has nothing to do with your old one, a 301 redirect would be a waste of time.

 

the old domain is running business directory and new one also running business directory also.. only the name of the old domain is not related www.online-program.net and new one is www.telusdirectories.com

also just contact google from their webmaster tools, i am sure they have some sort of set up, but your pagerank will not transfer over, but your backlinks will, which is the point.
