Should I upgrade my website to a VPS/Dedi?

Well I have currently started a porn website, and the site is quite slow loading now, (I have only uploaded 1 video).

The hosting I have used on it is the following: http://www.cirtexhosting.com/shared.shtml (Professional one)

My question is: Should I upgrade my site to a dedicated/VPS server? As my site is really slow loading atm.

To what should I upgrade though? VPS or dedicated? Which one is better? And will my site load faster if I use a VPS/Dedi?

I wanted to buy a VPS on this site btw:

    http://hostv.net/vps-hosting.shtml

    Guaranteed RAM
    768MB
    Burstable RAM
    2048MB
    Disk Space
    100GB
    Bandwidth
    Unmetered

    Is this good?

    Thank you.

You should definatley not be on shared hosting if you are thinking about having a site that hosts videos.

    Yh I thought that too.

What should I use a VPS or a Dedi? And which VPS/Dedi should I purchase of which website? (they need to allow adult content)

Get a VPS. With lots of images and videos plus the traffic it is a move you need to make as soon as possible.

I would suggest a VPS until your traffic grows to a point where it will be paying for itself.

I agree shared hosting might not be the best place for your current site. I would get a VPS with a hosting company that will grow your server as your site grows. Plus you can get MRTG graphs that show your RAM and CPU usage, will help seeing what is causing your site to load slow if it continues.

I would also highly recommend a VPS plan for the type of site you plan on running.
Streaming video does use not only a lot of resources, but also bandwidth. I would suggest writing an email to HostV and ask exactly how much bandwidth they will let you use. Always remember there is no such thing as unlimited in the hosting industry.

Do you know what you're doing with a server, or do you need it to be managed?

The first thing you need to do is work out the copyright stuff on the porn. If you don't own the copyright on the material, you are going to be very limited in where you can host. You should start looking for an offshore host.

In any event, there are a couple ways you can go with this:

You can buy a VPS from a fully-managed company. It's going to be more expensive than unmanaged, of course, but well worth it if you don't know what you're doing with a server yet.

You can also buy an unmanaged VPS (normally a lot cheaper) and go with a server management company. You can often get a VPS and a server management company cheaper than you can a "managed VPS". Just depends. The other great thing about going with an external server management company, is that many of them provide hourly rates, and you can use them only when you need them. For example, it might take them 2 hours to set up and configure your server initially. After that, you might never need management again until something goes wrong. So why pay a monthly fee if you aren't using their services?

Thanks a lot for your help mate, and the things with the copy right stuff are no problem, as I'll probably embed videos on my tube site.

I'll look on a unmanaged server now and for a company that does all the server stuff for me.

    Thank you ;)

Looking for an unmanaged server and then a third company to do all the server stuff for you? Sounds like alot of hands in the cookie jar as they say. Simply getting a fully managed server with a company that offers what you need will stop you from having to have multiple people just to get you running and keep you running. my two cents...

Nothing wrong with that at all, especially if you don't need managed service 24/7, which is what you are paying for with a managed provider. He could, for example, get a high-quality VPS server for half of what most companies charge, and pay somebody $20/hr. when he actually needs something. Most people do not need managed services. They need someone to set their server up and that's usually about the extent of it.

In any event, OP, if you want a managed provider, I highly recommend Knownhost, though I'm pretty sure they don't accept pornography of any kind anymore.

Ok well I'm going to buy a VPS I guess, just to get started off.

Do you guys think this VPS can handle 3-4 of my webistes?

    Guaranteed RAM
    1024MB
    Burstable RAM
    4096MB
    Disk Space
    200GB
    Bandwidth
    Unmetered

I'm going to host 1 Forum on the server (vBulletin), 2 video streaming websites (mainly embedding videos) and maybe another video streaming website, but these 3 websites are for sure on my server, do you think this VPS can handle it all?

    Thank you.

You will have to consider a Dedicated or a Cloud server for your requirements rather than a traditional VPS hosting solutions. As a startup you can consider a Cloud Servers as they are highly scalable and reliable since they are based on latest networking technology.
Some webhost still offer Burstable RAM on their hosting plans.
Regarding Unmetered : You will have to pay good amount for Unmetered Bandwidth option.

I suggest you VPS as right now you dont require dedicated server.

So go directly for VPS plan, many cheap VPS hosting plans are available. So go for any of those
